Regimen + Goals

My Hair Regimen: I moisturize and/or oil my hair daily. As needed (usually weekly) I cleanse my hair and scalp with a moisturizing shampoo (or a clarifying one if there's build up). I do a moisturizing OR protein treatment with every shampoo. I stretch my relaxers 3-4 months.

My go-to protective/low manipulation styles: buns, braid-outs and halfwigs. In 2012 I want to start experimenting with more heat-free styles. I air dry most of the time and flat iron for length checks only.

I'm currently midback length (MBL) and actively working towards reaching waist length by my graduation in mid-2012.

Wash Day (6 Weeks Post)

Today's wash day was pretty uneventful. Right now my hair is 50% dry and I can't help but notice how soft it feels :) Here's how the wash went..

Step 1) Pre-poo. I mixed the following ingredients in a bowl:
- 1 tablespoon JBCO
- 2 tablespoons EVCO
- 2 tablespoons EVOO
- 12 drops peppermint oil
- Cheapie conditioner (I used Suave Tropical Coconut)

I left that mixture on for several hours. 30 mins with heat and the rest of the time just at room temp under a shower cap.

Step 2) Shampoo. I did the first lather with Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat shampoo, and second lather with Keracare Hydrating detangling shampoo. Both of these shampoos are sulfate-free.

Step 3) Condition. I used Roux Porosity Control Corrector and Conditioner in the shower for a few minutes. I don't use this product every wash but its a staple.

Step 4) Leave-in. Aphogee Green Tea & Keratin restructurizer. Another staple, I use this nearly every wash.

Step 5) Air dry. (currently doing this now)

Step 6) Will moisturize and seal tomorrow when my hair is fully dry.

I plan to wear my hair in a bun this whole week, moisturizing and sealing daily or as needed. No comb.

TGIF!!! Hope you have a safe weekend :)

  1. I airdried this wash too. And I also wait until my hair is completely dry to moisturize and seal. Happy wash day! lol

  2. I am really thinking about trying the Aphogee leave-in. I have heard great things about it and I want a spray leave it.

  4. Hi i love reading your blog.
If I well understood you does air dry ofter
I just wanted to know, when you saying that you air dry, do you just let your hair hand down until it's dry.
Do you plait it or do your put it in a wet bun.
Because i would like to reach to air dry my hair without it looks like a hot mess, which happen often.
