Regimen + Goals

My Hair Regimen: I moisturize and/or oil my hair daily. As needed (usually weekly) I cleanse my hair and scalp with a moisturizing shampoo (or a clarifying one if there's build up). I do a moisturizing OR protein treatment with every shampoo. I stretch my relaxers 3-4 months.

My go-to protective/low manipulation styles: buns, braid-outs and halfwigs. In 2012 I want to start experimenting with more heat-free styles. I air dry most of the time and flat iron for length checks only.

I'm currently midback length (MBL) and actively working towards reaching waist length by my graduation in mid-2012.

Wig it or not??

I'm debating between whether I want to wig it for the rest of the year or not.

On the one hand, I can save a LOT of time every morning and it is soo convenient to just throw on a halfwig, blend a little, and go. I wont have to worry about bad hair days or anything. Also, my hair will be 100% protected for maximum length retention. If I want a change I can always just do an updo with my real hair every once in a while.

On the other hand. My hair is at a length where I feel comfortable with wearing it out. Halfwigs are pretty expensive over time.

What to do?? How are you wearing your hair this fall/winter?

  1. I am planning to be in a sew-in weave all throughout Autumun (Fall) and Winter. My hair was expensive about $60 but I plan to reuse so it's okay.

  2. Your hair is at a great length. I originally challenged myself to wear my hair out all fall...but then again I stopped wiggin early. So, I'll prob do 75% out, 25% wigs. I figure its all about enjoyment, if you are in a stage of preferring your half-wigs...go for it! I just have a problem with ppl continually wigging even when they don't want to!

  3. I agree with ECP, do what you feel for the day/week.

    I plan on getting a sew-in...

  4. For this fall/winter I'll be protectively styling my way to APL... Sadly I'm already getting bored with my hair. Because of that, I want to tell you to just forego the half wigs but I'm probably a bit biased...

  5. This fall/ winter I will be mainly wearing my hair in buns and maybe a few braidouts. I've never tried a wig but I have been thinking of trying one to give my hair a break

  7. Do you have a half wig in mind? I'm liking the idea of putting my hair away for the rest of the year but I'm such a newbie when it come to wigs haha :)

  8. I am with you on this dilemna. I have no idea what I want to do either. Do I get a wig? Do I not? Should I just protective style all winter? Should I go for maximum length retention with a wig? So many options.

I guess you can go half and half. Half the time wear a wig the other half protective style? A good compromise n'est pas?
