Regimen + Goals

My Hair Regimen: I moisturize and/or oil my hair daily. As needed (usually weekly) I cleanse my hair and scalp with a moisturizing shampoo (or a clarifying one if there's build up). I do a moisturizing OR protein treatment with every shampoo. I stretch my relaxers 3-4 months.

My go-to protective/low manipulation styles: buns, braid-outs and halfwigs. In 2012 I want to start experimenting with more heat-free styles. I air dry most of the time and flat iron for length checks only.

I'm currently midback length (MBL) and actively working towards reaching waist length by my graduation in mid-2012.

June recap + July and August 2011 Hair Goals

JUNE GOALS
1. Leave my hair braided for the entire month. Didn't do it. But I don't feel bad because I listened to my hair and took them out before that setback had a chance to cause any more damage.

2. PERSONAL NO BUY!! My hair is in cornrows so even if I want to get something, it wouldn't make sense because I can't even use it until next month! Also this is a good way to save money Lmao failed this miserably. My logic went out the window on this one.

3. Drink 3 bottles of water daily. This works out to about 6 glasses. I don't care how I do it (chug at night or sip throughout the day) this NEEDS to be done! I'll say I won on this one. I definitely upped my water and fruit/veggie intake this month.

4. Use up *FIVE* products in stash Let see..I finished CHI Keratin Mist, a conditioner, a shampoo. That's alright I guess. I can't remember if I finished anything else. Next time I'll have to make a note of things I finished as I go along. OH! I gave my Lustrasilk mango and shea cholesterol and Cathy Howse UBH Deep Conditioner (good products, just my hair hated them) to my sister. Guess that counts?

JULY/AUGUST 2011 HAIR GOALS (aka plans for the rest of summer 2011)
1. Reach midback length.
2. Use up ALL "extra" products in my stash. This means streamlining it down to 15 staples or less. I don't want to claim no-buy because it's not realistic for me lol! So for now I'll just be heavy-handed and get creative to use unloved products faster.
3. Relax in August. No sooner! (this will be tough)
4. Limited heat (minus my bangs). Flat iron once a month max, if that. Blow dryer is okay to use on cool.

  1. LOL you did pretty good IMO!! 50% is better than flubbing up the whole month!

  2. You have done pretty well! With the no-buy...I think what helps is not being on one! Honestly, whenever I put myself on one I'd feel like I HAD to buy something but now that I'm just feeling lazy I haven't bought any products (minus wigs) in a while!

  3. You already look MBL to me!

  4. @ECP Thanks for the tip I took that into account for my July/August goals. I find it also helps to organize my products (group shampoos together, group conditioners together etc) and that usually turns me off from buying more stuff.

@KayTee last time I checked, only the longest layer in the back reaches MBL. If I cut that, the rest of my hair is BSL. Besides, it doesn't "feel" like MBL yet lol. I'll probably claim it this summer with lots of pics :)
