Regimen + Goals

My Hair Regimen: I moisturize and/or oil my hair daily. As needed (usually weekly) I cleanse my hair and scalp with a moisturizing shampoo (or a clarifying one if there's build up). I do a moisturizing OR protein treatment with every shampoo. I stretch my relaxers 3-4 months.

My go-to protective/low manipulation styles: buns, braid-outs and halfwigs. In 2012 I want to start experimenting with more heat-free styles. I air dry most of the time and flat iron for length checks only.

I'm currently midback length (MBL) and actively working towards reaching waist length by my graduation in mid-2012.

Relaxer Preparation

The relaxer I've been using since August 2008. My fav!
I'm currently 10 weeks post and planning to relax soon. The stretch has been pretty straightforward so far.

Last wash before relaxer:
1. Shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo
2. Condition with Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor (protein)
3. Follow up with Roux Moisturizing Conditioner (can't believe I found this at my local dollar store! Sally's sells it for at least $10).
4. Leave-in, moisturize and seal

Relaxer Day Steps:
A. Detangle hair and base scalp with Vaseline the night before and day of
B. Apply relaxer (with some EVOO mixed in) to new growth only
C. Rinse and do mid-relaxer protein step with Aphogee 2 Minute
D. Neutralize at least 5x, then deep condition
E. Apply leave-in and heat protectant (Nioxin Thermal Bliss)
F. Flat Iron with FHI ♥
G. Trim
H. ENJOY! :)
I. Preserve style at night by wrapping. No additional product to maintain body and bounce.

PS - Any idea for grad pic hair? Not the actual ceremony but just the picture that will forever be in the halls of my school. Post a comment below please

  3. Excited for your touch-up! I am so in love with that relaxer, I can't say enough good things about it! I have never reviewed or had a staple relaxer so I'm pretty hyped about it. lol

  4. Same relaxer my hairdresser uses, I have to say it's one of the best though. I know everyone loves ORS but that stuff burned my hairline. :(

Looking forward to your update, your hair is going to look great as always. Mind shooting me a PM for the address of the dollar store you got your Roux?! Can't believe you found it somewhere other than Sally's.

  9. Question...I need to do a touch up and I have a lot of product in my hair and my roots are thick. I am wondering if I shud do a clarify/aphogee 2 min/roux condition, and can I do this 3 days before my relaxer?

    1. i would insist that before every relaxer you clarify your hair atleast 2 days before.this makes it easier to relax your hair and you will get better results, but if you dont want it bone straight then u prbably shouldnt clarify your hair ......hope this helped .......truely a sister on a hair journey/advice
